Vehicle Destroyed by Fire in Blanding; Cause Under Investigation

BLANDING — A vehicle was destroyed in a fire Sunday morning, and the cause remains under investigation, according to Blanding Police.

In a Facebook update, police said the incident happened around 8:40 a.m. near 740 S. Main St. The driver had just left a nearby hotel parking lot when smoke began coming from the vehicle.

Bystanders tried to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers, but the fire quickly engulfed the car. Traffic was temporarily diverted while the Blanding Fire Department worked to put out the blaze.

Authorities say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
