Utah Authorities Arrest Multiple Suspects in Online Threat “Crashes”

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah law enforcement made several arrests this week after online threat “crashes” sparked concern at schools and universities.

According to investigators, two people were arrested for threats involving Utah Valley University and Utah County high schools. A Pennsylvania man was taken into custody after posting a video threatening UVU, and a southern Utah woman was arrested for allegedly posting a death threat against a political figure.

Police also increased patrols at Timpview and Provo high schools after a student shared a threatening image online. While officials said the post was not credible, they stressed that all such accidents are investigated seriously.
