TRAX Red Line Delayed After Collision With Car Near Daybreak
SALT LAKE CITY — Morning service on the TRAX Red Line was disrupted after a train collided with a car near Daybreak on October 7, causing significant delays for riders.
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) reported the crash shortly after 7 a.m. Gavin Gustafson, a UTA spokesperson, said no passengers on the train were injured. The car’s driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment as a precaution.

UTA crews and investigators responded to the scene, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
To keep riders moving, UTA initially set up a bus bridge between South Jordan Parkway and Daybreak Parkway. Within about 30 minutes, that service was extended west to 5600 West as delays grew.
Gustafson said there’s no timeline yet for when the Red Line will return to regular service. Passengers are advised to expect delays until the investigation and track clearance are complete.
