Taylorsville Crash Injures 7; Driver Bites UHP Trooper During Rescue
SALT LAKE CITY — Seven people were injured in a Taylorsville crash on Sunday, including a Utah Highway Patrol trooper who was bitten while attempting to rescue a driver.
The collision occurred around 1:15 p.m. near 2550 West and 4700 South, close to the southbound I-215 on-ramp, according to Sgt. Ryan Carver of the Taylorsville Police Department, a white Cadillac heading west on 4700 South, ran a red light and was struck by a Dodge pickup carrying five passengers.
Both vehicles traveled at high speeds and ended up on the rocks near the ramp after the impact. The Cadillac’s driver, a young male, was knocked unconscious as the car caught fire.

While officers worked to pull the driver from the burning vehicle, he became combative and bit two UHP troopers. Carver said impairment may have been a factor.
One trooper drove himself to the hospital due to a more serious bite injury. The other sustained only minor injuries. All individuals involved in the crash were transported to the hospital for treatment.
