NEPHI, Utah — Southbound traffic on Interstate 15 was backed up Tuesday afternoon after a car pulling a trailer crashed and destroyed the trailer near mile marker 206, about 18 miles south of Nephi.
The Utah Department of Transportation first reported the crash just after 12:30 p.m. Sgt. Mike Alexander with the Utah Highway Patrol said the driver — a man traveling alone — suffered only minor injuries. No other people were hurt.

UDOT said the wreck blocked the right shoulder and one southbound lane while crews responded and cleared debris. Troopers kept the right-most lane closed to allow cleanup and investigation, forcing all vehicles into a single left lane.
Traffic in the area slowed significantly, with delays stretching roughly three miles, according to UDOT’s traffic map. It remains unclear what caused the crash, and officials have not provided an estimate on when the highway will fully reopen.
