Semi-Truck Rear-End Collision Sparks Fire on I-84 Near Tremonton
TREMONTON, Utah (KUTV) — A fiery crash occurred Wednesday afternoon when one semi-truck rear-ended another along I-84 near Tremonton.
According to the Tremonton Fire Department, the first semi-truck was heading west on the interstate around 3:30 p.m. when the driver heard a loud “pop” and pulled over. As the truck was merging back into traffic, it was struck from behind by a second semi-truck.
The impact caused the second truck to jackknife and catch fire, becoming fully engulfed in flames. The first truck sustained damage only to its trailer.

Thanks to a coordinated response from multiple agencies, the fire was quickly contained. Crews from Tremonton Fire, Northrop Fire Department, the Box Elder County Fire Marshal’s Office, a passing Grouse Creek brush truck, and even a nearby farmer with a water tanker all assisted in the effort.
A passenger in the first truck reported mild back pain but did not require hospitalization. Both drivers escaped without injury.
