Semi-truck hauling Tesla parts overturns, catches fire on I-80

SALT LAKE CITY — A semi-truck carrying Tesla auto parts overturned on Interstate 80 near Skull Valley Friday afternoon, forcing the closure of westbound lanes.

According to Sgt. Andy Battenfield of the Utah Highway Patrol, the truck overcorrected near mile marker 77, rolled, and then caught fire. The driver suffered only minor injuries, described as “a few bumps and bruises.”

Drivers were directed to exit I-80 at exit 84 as crews worked to clear the scene. Authorities said they hoped to reopen at least one lane as soon as possible.
