Pedestrian killed, two critically injured in Midvale crash
MIDVALE, Utah — A deadly accident in Midvale left one pedestrian killed and two others critically injured after an auto-pedestrian crash that shut down State Street in both directions.
The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Monday near 7500 South. According to Sgt. Aymee Race with the Unified Police Department, a driver struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk before colliding with another vehicle.
The pedestrian was killed at the scene, while both drivers involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

One of the vehicles also crashed into a power pole, prompting Rocky Mountain Power to respond to restore service to the affected area.
Emergency crews closed both northbound and southbound lanes of State Street between 7500 South and 7720 South. Police said the road could remain closed for up to two hours as investigators process the accident scene, and urged the public to avoid the area.
Sgt. Race noted the investigation is still in its early stages, and the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
