Pedestrian Killed in Murray Hit-and-Run; Police Seek Two Drivers

MURRAY, Utah — Authorities have identified the pedestrian who tragically died in a hit-and-run last Thursday night as 53-year-old Kimberley Jean Jespersen.

According to the Murray Police Department, Jespersen was using the crosswalk at 4500 South and State Street around 11 p.m. when a dark-colored hatchback passenger car struck her while turning east. Police said the car briefly stopped, and Jespersen appeared to stand by the driver’s window when the traffic signal turned green.

At that moment, a dark-colored truck traveling eastbound on 4500 South reportedly swerved to avoid the stopped hatchback and struck Jespersen. Both vehicles then continued eastbound without stopping.

Jespersen was critically injured and transported to the hospital, where she later passed away.

Police are now asking the public for help identifying the two involved vehicles. Investigators believe the truck likely has damage on its front passenger side.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Murray police at 801-840-4000 and reference case number MR2025-23474.
