One Person Injured in Eagle Mountain Condominium Fire
EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A massive overnight fire tore through a condominium complex in Eagle Mountain early Tuesday, sending one resident to the hospital and forcing dozens of others to evacuate.
The blaze broke out just before 1 a.m. at the Willow Springs Condos on Ridge Loop, quickly spreading across the second and third floors before reaching the attic and roof. Fire officials said 12 units were evacuated as flames engulfed large portions of the building.
One person became trapped on the third floor, losing consciousness before fire crews used a ladder to pull them to safety. The individual was flown to the University of Utah Burn Center and was reported to be awake by early morning.
Six police officers who entered the building to help residents escape were also treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Residents described the chaos, with some even kicking in neighbors’ doors to alert them of the danger.
By sunrise, crews were preparing to re-enter the building to assess the damage. The American Red Cross arrived to assist displaced residents, though the exact number of destroyed units had not yet been confirmed.
