Four horses killed in San Juan County semi-truck rollover

LA SAL, Utah — A semi-truck carrying 31 horses rolled over on Lisbon Valley Road around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, killing four of the animals.

According to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, members of its livestock team, along with local cowgirls and cowboys, worked together to round up the surviving horses. The animals were taken to the fairgrounds while further arrangements were made.

“Sadly, four horses died in the crash,” the sheriff’s office reported. “Thanks to the efforts of Guy Tracy, Charlie Tracy, Nathan Freestone, David Robinson, Steven Robinson, Brian Robinson, and Loren Holyoak, the rest of the horses were safely rescued. This was a major operation for our county, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our community.”

The truck driver was not injured.
