Driver who police say hit 51-year-old woman in yard turns themselves

ROY, Utah — Roy police say they are no longer searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a 51-year-old woman in a yard Tuesday morning. The driver turned themselves in later that day, according to police.

The victim’s name has not been released, but officials confirmed she was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

The Roy Police Department reported the crash happened near 4800 South and 2950 West just before 9:43 a.m. Investigators said the woman was in a yard, though they are unsure if it belonged to her, when a black SUV went over a curb, hitting the woman and a fence.

Police said the driver left the scene after the accident. Officers searched the neighborhood for witnesses or video footage and shared photos of the suspected vehicle on the department’s social media pages.
