Driver Killed in I-15 Crash With Debris in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY — A driver was killed Friday night after colliding with debris on southbound I-15 near exit 311, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. on southbound I-15 near 2300 North, exit 311. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck debris in the roadway and crashed. The driver was killed in the collision, though officials have not released the individual’s identity. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
All southbound lanes at exit 311 were immediately shut down, along with the Beck Street and Highway 89 on-ramps. The Utah Department of Transportation diverted traffic onto I-215, urging drivers to expect long delays. Cameras in the area showed vehicles at a complete standstill near the crash site, with patrol cars blocking the roadway.
